Big L Flamboyant was the stage name of Lamont Coleman, an American rapper from Harlem, New York. He was born on May 30, 1974 and began his music career in the early 1990s. Big L was known for his aggressive and complex rhymes, which garnered him a reputation as one of the best lyricists of his time. He was a member of the hip hop groups Diggin' in the Crates and Children of the Corn. Big L released his debut album, Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous, in 1995, which received critical acclaim.
Tragically, Big L was shot and killed on February 15, 1999, at the age of 24. His murder remains unsolved to this day. His legacy as one of the most talented and influential rappers of the 1990s has continued to grow even after his death. His style and lyricism have influenced many rappers who have come after him. In 2021, Big L was posthumously inducted into the Bronx Walk of Fame.
